As with all retrogrades, it is an internalisation of the planets energies so that we become more subjective and review, revalue and reboot!

Venus in Gemini who represents the butterfly in the zodiac gives us an opportunity to make more room in our lives and our hearts for more love, abundance and joy. And to set the bar higher and step up to the next level in our development and personal relationships .

To break the chains and heaviness that has been hindering our ability to evolve, especially unhealthy love patterns of codependencies and lack of self worth.

It’s a time to break the chains and fly free of long out worn karmic patterns that take on a deeper meaning as the karmic Nodes of fate changed signs on the 5th May for the next 18 months.

Venus is retrograde once every 18 months for 40 days.We can gain insights and heightened awareness, over the next 40 days enabling a huge shift in consciousness.

While we may be more critical at this time, we will also come to appreciate and feel gratitude for all that is good in our relationships and lives even more. Helping bonds to deepen in our relationships and gain a renewed sense of purpose and commitment.

We can also gain deeper insight into the workings of our subconscious patterns and how we limit and block love, beauty, joy and abundance in our lives as well as our creative abilities and talents.

Since we are all more focused on love and the past, relationships, friends or family from our past can suddenly turn up out of the blue to reconnect. Its also a chance to review old relationships and find common ground together and possibly a new beginning.

On a karmic level, people we meet and get to know now, can feel fated. Potential new and old loves can just as surprisingly and suddenly turn up, and we can feel a strong magnetic pull towards them. It’s destiny putting two people together at the right time and place, so that they can learn and love and evolve together.

Just the right lessons they both need to learn at this stage in their development. It can almost feel like starting over again where you once left off before, whether from this life or a past life. Sometimes new loves and people we meet now, can have a very significant impact on our life direction–sometimes having the effect of rerouting us entirely on our present course.

For some, it could mean an end to current relationships, but only those relationships that are not based on truth, authenticity and that doesn’t leave enough space to grow and evolve.

An important message carried by the Venus in Gemini retrograde, is about Gemini’s ability to go through important changes with grace and lightness. Just like the Butterflies unwavering acceptance of her metamorphosis it is also symbolic of faith. Here the butterfly beckons us to keep our faith as we undergo transitions in our lives and emphasizes the ability to move from one state, perspective, lifestyle to another with adaptability.

Life is about evolving and actively creating change, as well as learning how to go with the flow when inevitable change comes our way.

Life is a moving, breathing thing. We have to be willing to evolve within ourselves and our relationships constantly.

Any feelings of heaviness and feelings of burden and limitation that we may have, are being illuminated during Venus in Gemini retrograde, so that we can acknowledge it and take action and responsibility for bringing more lightness into our lives and relationships. Our source of joy comes at first from within.

Relationships that don’t support freedom and growth, but keep the status quo at all costs out of fear, will be under critical review.

It is often better to wait until after the retrograde period when we will have much more objectivity about exactly what we want and have more clarity of mind and heart.

Venus, the goddess of love, is somewhat hedonistic and quality of life is more important to us now. Do we have enough time and space in our lives for fun and relaxation? Is it all about work and no play? It’s time to get the balance right now.

We may question if we are valued enough in our workplace as well as our relationships and if we earn enough money. We need, to be honest with ourselves now and ask why are we staying in an unsatisfactory job or relationship? Is it through choice or fear?

We may become more aware now, about why we attract and choose the wrong relationships, especially if it’s because we don’t value ourselves enough and we feel lacking in self-worth.

But if we are coming from a place of lack through lack of self-love and esteem, we quickly become fully dependent on the other, which in turn leads to fear and to controlling the other, as our complete emotional happiness seems to depends on them. But no one can fill a huge space of emptiness. We must fill the emptiness ourselves with more self love and work at more self awareness. All of our relationships will benefit from this.

We need to believe in ourselves. Lack of self-esteem sabotages relationships and makes for unhealthy relationship. We need to take responsibility for our own happiness too. Then a relationship becomes a healthy choice and not formed out of neediness and desperation.

Synchronicities will be strong and even magical, during this retrograde time, inspiring and karmic people can enter our lives while existing relationships can benefit from an upgrading to the next higher level.

Releasing and healing relationships, addictions and delusions will be easier to do now, that are no longer serving our highest purpose and good. Enabling us to live from our true authentic self, from a deep soul level. Trusting and moving away from fear. Helping us to heal and forgive past hurts and feelings of low esteem and self-worth that are ultimately blocking our path to true love happiness and abundance that have been keeping us stuck in karmic negative relationship patterns, perhaps even over lifetimes.

Self-love is a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth. Self-love is dynamic; it grows by actions that mature us. When we act in ways that expands self-love in us, we begin to accept our weaknesses as well as our strengths, have less need to explain away our short-comings, have compassion for ourselves as human beings struggling to find personal meaning. We are more centered in our life purpose and values, and expect living fulfillment through our own efforts.

When we shift our perspective from feelings of lack to feelings of gratification and abundance, and we cultivate generosity in all its forms, we shift our focus away from lack, to abundance. Generosity gets us to focus on the fact that there’s actually plenty to go around. We start to see how much love and wealth is all around you right now. And that’s when we raise our vibration and start attracting more love and abundance on an energetic level. We attract not what we want but what we are.

Venus represents our creative talent. What talents have we not developed because we thought we were not good enough?
Sometimes we idealise or choose partners who represent our own creative potential, but instead of living it out ourselves we try to subconsciously live it through others.

Once we learn to live from a healthy ego and self love, everything begins to fall into place. We attract and are able to keep healthy friendships and relationships.

We are being asked to mature and redefine what love of self and others really means and to take responsibility for our actions.
